Andrew Morton from Projex Solutions recently attended Tameside Armed Forces Day in Denton, supporting North Tameside District Scouts and Tameside South as they promoted Scouting and engaged with the local community.

The event brought together members of the Armed Forces, cadets, police, Scouts and local community groups for a day of remembrance, recognition and community engagement. It gave people of all ages the chance to reflect on the contribution of the Armed Forces, both now and in the past, while also learning more about the organisations that support young people across the local area.

North Tameside District Scouts were also raising funds for a new district Scout flag on the day. Andrew helped sell raffle tickets, contributing to around £125 raised towards the flag. The district has also received a further donation of £150, meaning they are now close to reaching the total needed.

The new flag will replace an older district flag that has been used for many years. North Tameside District Scouts was formed in 1974, and a new flag will help represent the district at future events, ceremonies and community activities.

Alongside the fundraising by North Tameside, both North Tameside District Scouts and Tameside South used the event to speak to families, young people and adults about getting involved in Scouting. With the North Tameside publicity trailer on site, Andrew and the team were able to explain where local Scout groups are based and help point people towards opportunities in their own area.

For Andrew, the value of Scouting goes far beyond the event itself. He spoke about the importance of giving young people something positive to be part of, especially through outdoor activities, teamwork and community involvement. He is also a strong believer in the benefits of being outdoors for both young people and adults, particularly when it comes to mental health and wellbeing.

The event included a wide range of groups and activities, including the RAF, police, police cadets, RAF cadets, historic displays and a model aircraft cockpit that visitors could sit in. It created an engaging environment for families while helping different organisations connect with the local community.

Andrew also had the opportunity to meet Mark Llewellin DL, High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, who attended the event and has shown a strong interest in supporting and promoting Scouting. Andrew was photographed with him on the day, adding another positive moment to the event.

At Projex Solutions, we are proud of the people behind our business and the contributions they make outside of work. Andrew’s ongoing involvement with the Scouts reflects many of the values we care about as a company, including teamwork, service, leadership, social responsibility and supporting the next generation.

Community involvement is an important part of who we are. Whether through charity fundraising, local sponsorships, school engagement, volunteering or supporting youth organisations, our people continue to play an active role in causes that matter to them and their communities.

Andrew’s support for Tameside Armed Forces Day is a great example of that commitment in action. Well done to Andrew, North Tameside District Scouts, Tameside South and everyone involved in the event.
