Project Methodology & Standards (ISO9001)

Ensuring Excellence Through ISO 9001 Project Methodology

At Projex Solutions, we specialise in delivering engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) solutions that align with the highest industry standards. By following a structured project methodology, we ensure efficiency, transparency, and quality at every stage. Additionally, our Project Methodology & Standards (ISO9001) reinforces our commitment to rigorous quality management that meets international best practices.

Our Project Methodology

To minimize risks, optimize resources, and achieve successful project outcomes, we implement a systematic project management framework. This structured approach ensures every phase is executed with precision.

1. Project Initiation & Feasibility

  • First, we assess client objectives, requirements, and constraints to align the project with business goals.
  • Next, our team conducts feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential challenges early.
  • Finally, we establish a clear project scope, deliverables, and timelines to keep the project on track.

2. Planning & Design

  • During this stage, we develop detailed engineering designs and refine procurement strategies to streamline execution.
  • Furthermore, we ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards to mitigate risks.
  • To maintain efficiency, we implement a risk management framework that proactively addresses potential challenges.

3. Execution & Construction Management

  • Our team expertly coordinates procurement, logistics, and supply chain management to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Meanwhile, we oversee on-site construction activities, enforcing strict safety compliance at every step.
  • To uphold quality, we implement comprehensive control measures that guarantee project integrity.

4. Testing, Commissioning & Handover

  • After construction, we conduct rigorous inspections and performance testing to verify system functionality.
  • At the same time, we ensure all regulatory and operational requirements are met before final approval.
  • Before completion, we provide comprehensive documentation and training, ensuring a seamless handover to clients.

How we approach it

The methodology is carried by a document, not a slogan. Every project is set up with a Project Execution Plan tailored to its size, complexity and risk, and that plan is the single source of truth for everyone involved. It names who is responsible for what, sets the milestones and dependencies, identifies the resources needed and when, and defines how information is reported and escalated. It is reissued when scope, programme or resources change.

Quality is built in rather than inspected at the end. Each project gets a quality plan defining the applicable standards and how quality will be measured. Beneath that sit standard operating procedures and approved templates, technical verification of calculations, drawings and specifications before issue, procurement checks on materials and equipment, and site inspections and test witnessing. Internal audits keep it honest against our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.

Change is where most projects lose control, so changes to scope, programme or budget go through a documented process and are approved before implementation. Decisions are recorded so they can be traced afterwards, which is what makes handover documentation genuinely useful rather than a box-ticking exercise.

What you get

  • A Project Execution Plan covering objectives, scope, deliverables, success criteria and exclusions
  • A stated delivery strategy, including the delivery model used and the reasoning behind it
  • A clear split of responsibilities across our team, your team, suppliers and subcontractors
  • A milestone schedule with dependencies and review points, supported by a resource plan
  • A quality plan naming the applicable standards and how compliance will be evidenced
  • A communication and reporting plan with defined escalation routes
  • A risk register with mitigations, and a documented change control process
  • Site-specific health, safety and environmental requirements, handover documentation and a lessons learned review at close

When clients typically call us

  • An in-house team is delivering a capital project without a formal execution framework
  • A customer, regulator or auditor has asked for documented evidence of how project work is controlled
  • Several contractors are on site and responsibilities have blurred between them
  • Scope has changed repeatedly without a record, and cost and programme are drifting
  • Handover documentation on a previous project proved incomplete or unusable
  • A small or awkward one-off contract still needs proper control, without the overhead of a large project machine

Frequently asked questions

Does working to ISO 9001 mean more paperwork for us?

It means the right records, not more of them. The quality plan is scaled to the project, so a short piece of work carries a short plan. What you should notice is fewer repeated questions and cleaner documents at handover.

Can you work within our own procedures and systems?

Yes. Where you have an established project management framework or document control system, we work inside it and map our procedures to it, rather than asking you to adopt ours.

Do you apply this to small projects as well as large ones?

Yes, proportionately. The same framework covers schemes up to around twenty million pounds and small or awkward one-off contracts, with documentation matched to the risk involved.

What happens to the documentation when the project closes?

You receive the handover pack, including final inspection and test records, as-built information where it applies and the traceable record of decisions taken. We also run a lessons learned review.
