Lewis Copeland celebrates his 10th year anniversary at Projex Solutions. Lewis started working for Projex Solutions as an apprentice and over the years has worked hard to become the Operations Manager. We’d like to thank Lewis for all his hard work throughout the years and we look forward to many more! In celebration we have asked Lewis 10 questions about his 10 years working at Projex Solutions.
What made you want to pursue a career in engineering and why did you go down the apprentice route?
Ever since a young age I loved to take things apart like bikes and toys etc.. the only problem was that I didn’t know how to put them back together so I needed to learn engineering.
An apprenticeship I believe is the best way to learn quickly whilst on the job gaining valuable experience.
Do you remember your first day?
Yes… I remember walking into the office which was in like a basement at the time and the first thing the engineer said to me was “ well aren’t you going to put the kettle on then” which I laughed off initially and a small pause later came “ come on then this cup wont fill itself”
How has the company changed over the last ten years?
The company has changed massively over the last ten years… when I first started there was only 2 other people in the company and we only offered EC&I engineering services and now we have a team of 17 engineers.
How has your job changed over the last 10 years?
My job role has changed dramatically over the years from starting out as an apprentice at 18years old to now becoming Operations Manager at 28, taking on more and more responsibility as I have grown within the company.
What has been the biggest lesson you have learned over the years?
The biggest lesson I have learnt over the years is no matter how much you know you will never stop learning and to major in minor things.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
I love working as a team to accomplish a goal and finding solutions to overcome challenging tasks. I have been doing this for 10 years now so I must enjoy it.
What is your favourite thing about working for Projex Solutions?
My favourite thing about working for Projex is the unknown of what the next project might be that will come through the door and the excitement of what challenges we may face.
What do you see as your biggest accomplishments since your start in 2010?
Winning the outstanding manager award was up there with one of my greatest accomplishments with the company.
What is your favourite memory of the last 10 years?
My favourite memory would be the first time I was allowed to manage my own project for the company and I couldn’t wait to tell my dad… I felt like a real grown up.
What is your biggest hope for the next 10 years?
I would hope we can expand the company to cover all areas of the UK and increase our client portfolio to cover more industries.
